Timothy falls short......

The Lady Trojans season came to an end this past Thursday. Much too soon for the liking of the team, but that it did. In playing Walther Lutheran, the Lady Trojans had one goal in sight. That goal.....win a Regional Championship and have the right to return to their home floor for the Sectionals. However, Walther ruined that opportunity by playing a better game than Timothy.

The first quarter got off to an interesting start with Walther not scoring a single point and Timothy holding a 7-0 lead. Even with the lead after one, Timothy was not in a flow offensively and that became evident in the second quarter. By scoring only five points in the second, Walther on the other hand got it going by scoring 16.

Trailing by four at the half, Timothy was once again committed to playing a better second half. The third quarter went back and forth with Timothy equaling Walther at 21 before a three by the Broncos ended the quarter. Trailing by three, Timothy was down to the last eight minutes to make something happen.

The fourth quarter saw more of the same, as the Lady Trojans were just unable to get anything going on the offensive end. Down by one, with just over 4:00 minutes to play, Timothy had the chance to take the lead. However, a somewhat contested lay-up would not go down and that turned out to be a momentum swing for Walther. The rest of the game turned into a free throw parade and missed shots by the Lady Trojans. The final score ended up being 40-26 and a successful season seemed frozen in time.

With the loss, it wrapped up a great season for the Lady Trojans. To begin the season, they took home the consolation championship at the IMSA tourney, rattled off a seven game win streak, took second in the Lisle Christmas Tournament, won the Conference Championship with an impressive 11-1 record and finished in the top three in the DuPage Area in team defense. As you can see, the team accomplished a lot of positives on the season and that will not go unnoticed.

The end of the season, marks the final games for our Senior class. With seven Seniors, it was truly a bittersweet night. These seven girls: Cassidy Block, Jessica Dirkse, Jasmine Stein, Michelle Ditchfield, Amber Scheidt, Ciara Hoddenbach and Tessa Bosman will go down as one of the best group of Seniors that this program has seen. They have done a tremendous job in leading this program by example. With a wonderful mixture of leadership, caring hearts and a strong desire to bring honor to God, this group will be sorely missed! Thank you Seniors for being such God fearing young women!

On an individual note, the season is not quite over for Jessica Dirkse and Kelli LeGrand. Both girls have advanced in the 3pt. competition in the state of Illinois. They will be shooting Monday night at Timothy around 7:30pm Please keep cheering these girls on as they try to advance down state!

Pasta Party After Practice

The team will be having a pasta party at school right after practice tomorrow. Practice will run from 3:10-4:40, then the meal will be around 5:00pm. Thanks to Coach B for providing the food!

Timothy moves on......

The Lady Trojans started the state playoffs in grand fashion this evening. In a rematch vs. Immaculate Conception in which IC beat Timothy earlier this year, the game had special meaning to TC. Timothy came out fired up and took an early 16-6 lead after one quarter of play. The second quarter saw the offensive play slow down a little with each team scoring 8 and 7 respectively. That allowed Timothy to take a 24-13 lead at the half.

As has been the entire season, the Lady Trojans were playing some great defense in which IC shot 5-22 from the field in the first half. With a lot of positive momentum going into the half, Timothy was committed to playing some great basketball in the second half. Once again, the Lady Trojans got off to a great start, but Immaculate Conception came back and played tough. Here again, both teams scored 9 and 8 which continued to allow Timothy to build on their lead.

Leading 33-21 going into the fourth quarter, Timothy was not going to let this game slip away. With some timely free throws, some great steals and enough rebounding, Timothy came home with the win 44-27.

Cassidy Block led the way with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists. Kelli LeGrand chipped in 7 points and 2 steals, while Jessica Dirkse and Kaylie Pries each had 6 points. Shelly Ditchfield had a solid around game: 4 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals, let alone some great defense. Tessa Bosman had 5 points and 5 rebounds and Stephanie Kuiper had a timely bucket for 2 points.

The Lady Trojans now play in the Regional Championship on Thursday night at 7:30pm The game will be played at Wheaton Academy and Timothy will be playing a familiar foe, Walther Lutheran. Make plans now to come out and support the Lady Trojans as they try to bring home the Regional Championship.

CONFERENCE CHAMPS!!

Last night the Lady Trojans hosted Riverside-Brookfield on the final night of the regular season. It was a meaningful game is many ways. First, it was our final conference game. Second, if the game was won, Timothy would be Conference Champs and Finally, it was Senior Night! With so many things having such importance to the team, the game did not disappoint.

The Lady Trojans got off to a pretty good start by winning the first quarter by a score of 10-7. However, the second quarter was all Riverside-Broofield. The Bulldogs from R-B could not miss and their ball movement was good. With hot shooting and good play, R-B outscored Timothy 17-5 in the second quarter to take a 24-15 lead into the half.

Thankfully, there is a halftime where adjustments can be made. Timothy did just that, and the leader of that change was Tessa Bosman. Tessa scored 9 points herself in the third to spark the Lady Trojans on offense. Her energy enabled Timothy to overcome R-B by outscoring them 20-8 in the third.

That momentum led the way in the fourth as Timothy found a renewed sense of urgency to play better defense. The game was back and forth in the fourth with neither team having more than a three point lead. The turning point in the fourth was a great steal by Jasmine Stein which led to a lay-up by Jasmine. That steal and lay-up really gave the Lady Trojans the momentum they needed to finish the game. With free throws being made and executing some nice press breakers, the Lady Trojans were on their way to becoming Conference Champions! The final score ended up being 47-41.

Tessa Bosman led the way with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block. Cassidy Block had 12 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 blocks. Jasmine Stein chipped in 9 points, 3 steals, 2 assists. Kelli LeGrand had 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals. Shelly Ditchfield dropped in 4 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals. Stephanie Kuiper had 2 points, 4 rebounds and Jessica Dirkse had 2 points.

As mentioned above, this night was special. Obviously, winning the Conference was awesome, but honoring our seven Seniors was even better. The seven Seniors who are: Cassidy Block, Tessa Bosman, Jessica Dirkse, Amber Scheidt, Michelle Ditchfield, Ciara Hoddenbach and Jasmine Stein have meant a lot to the basketball program through the years. They are a special group and will be sorely missed as players, but more importantly as young ladies in Christ. Their commitment to leading by example has truly been a blessing to the team, program and to Timothy Christian High School. THANK YOU SENIORS!

Senior Night.....Tonight!!

Tonight is Senior Night as the Lady Trojans host Riverside-Brookfield. Pre-game festivities start around 6:30 with the game to follow. Make plans to come out and help support the Lady Trojans this evening. It should be a great night!

Lady Trojans defeat Glenbard South

Last night's game at Glenbard South was a fun one. With both teams coming into the game with only one loss in the conference, the importance of a victory for either team was crucial. Knowing that going into the game, the Lady Trojans were excited and eager to get the game going. The coach on the other hand had plenty of nervous excitement and so many thoughts flooded his mind. Needless to say, all of those things go away once the game starts.

Timothy came out with a great start with posting a lead of 12-4 at one point in the first quarter. Glenbard South finished up the quarter by scoring the last four points to make it 12-8 after one.

Both teams found some offensive flow in the second quarter with Timothy scoring 17 points and Glenbard scoring 15. That allowed TC to take a 29-23 lead into the half. The second quarter saw some timely three's from Kelli LeGrand and Jessica Dirkse.

The third quarter did not resemble the second quarter in that each team struggled to score at times. Thankfully Timothy was able to win the quarter 9-8 and take a 38-31 lead into the fourth quarter.

Free throws were the name of the game in the fourth. The Lady Trojans scored 10 points alone on free throws while only making two baskets. Overall, Timothy shot 22-28 from the line, which proved to be a valuable asset tonight. The final score ended up being 52-37.

As was the case again last night, Cassidy Block continues her torrid pace of scoring by dropping 27 in the game. She also had 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks. Kelli LeGrand had 9 points, 2 rebounds, Jessica Dirkse had 6 points while Tessa Bosman had 4 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals. Shelly Ditchfield, Jasmine Stein and Stephanie Kuiper had 2 points apiece.

Next up for the Lady Trojans is Riverside-Brookfield on Thursday night. It is also Senior Night, so make plans to come out and support the Lady Trojans on this special evening.
