Well, the home opener for the Lady Trojans did not disappoint. Timothy came out revved up to play defending conference champion Glenbard South. Going into the game, the Lady Trojans knew they would have to play well to beat a solid program like GS. With that in mind, Timothy was ready to attack from the get go. After the first quarter ended in a 14-8 lead for the Lady Trojans, it was back to a grind it out game in the second. With turnovers increasing, Glenbard South was able to get back into the game. However, Timothy was able to hold an 11 point cushion at halftime, 26-15. Thanks in large part to playing some great defense in the first half, Timothy was ready to get re-focused for the second half.
Timothy started out great in the 3rd quarter by increasing their lead to 18 at one point. The Lady Raiders would not go away and actually cut the lead to 7 at one point and that is where it stayed after three, 33-26. Defense was the name of the game in the 4th quarter once again, with Timothy holding Glenbard South scoreless for the first 7 minutes. During that span, the team was able to increase their lead and finish the game by making several free throws. The final score ended up 44-32.
Cassidy Block led the Lady Trojans with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and Tessa Bosman chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Stephanie Kuiper continued to provide a spark off the bench with 5 points and some timely rebounds. Jessica Dirkse dropped in two three's for 6 points to finish the scoring. Another great team win for Timothy this evening.
Thank you very much to all the fans for the great support and enthusiasm. Your energy was appreciated. Timothy is off until next Tuesday, in which they travel to Westmont.
