The Lady Trojans competed in the Lisle Tournament over the Christmas break once again. With a few new teams joining the tournament this year, it has become quite the 16 team field of extremely good schools. With playing four games in four days, every school is challenged to get up and compete each day. As the previous blog post indicated the Lady Trojans got off to a great start in beating Wheaton Academy 40-27.
The next day pitted TC against Walther and another good test to see where the Lady Trojans stood. Walther turned out to be a little too much to handle as they jumped out to a 14-3 first quarter lead. The team would respond with playing Walther pretty straight up the next two quarters, but eventually saw Walther pull away in the end and winning 45-31.
On the third day of the tourney, TC faced off against a very good St. Edward's team. Much like the Walther game, St. Ed's came out very focused to push the pace and press upon the Lady Trojans that this was going to be a physical game. TC battled the Green Wave in the first half, only trailing by three at the half. However, the second half was not a very good showing on behalf of the Lady Trojans. With a lot of standing on offense, St. Ed's pulled away and won comfortably 44-25.
Finally, the last day was upon us. Timothy squared off against another familiar foe, Latin, on the final day. With a first quarter burst, 21 points in all, the Lady Trojans were off to the races. Latin made a very frustrating comeback in the second quarter which led the Lady Trojans to regroup at halftime. The third quarter saw almost an identical burst of points as the first quarter did, 20 to be exact. As you can assume, it was a game where points were coming in bunches. TC finished the tournament the way it started it, with a win. TC beat Latin 63-48.
Overall, it was a good tournament for the Lady Trojans to continue to learn and be tested at the same time. The tourney had some great highlights throughout for TC where several players played important roles. We would like to extend a congratulations to Cassidy Block for making the All-Tournament Team. Cassidy capped her tournament play with a 27 point performance against Latin. Once again, congrats Cassidy for this accomplishment and representing Timothy Christian.
