HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

The Timothy Christian Girls Basketball Program wishes everyone a Happy New Year. We hope you enjoy the New Year ahead!

The Agony of Defeat

The Webster's dictionary defines agony as an intense pain of the mind or body. Well, it may not have been intense, but it was painful on the mind as the Lady Trojans came up just short 43-42 in it's loss to St. Edward in the Championship game. If you were there to watch the game, play in the game or coach in the game, you understanding why it was so painful. TC had a 10 point lead in the second half and roughly an 8 point lead with 3:00 minutes to go. What transpired from there was tough to swallow. St. Ed's picked up their intensity and were able to force several turnovers which translated into points for them. Even as the time wound down, TC still had a two point lead with 1:05 left. Unable to convert some timely free throws, St. Ed's hit a huge three to go up by one. The last minute saw a few free throw made by St. Ed's and a couple of missed opportunities for the Lady Trojans. Jessica Dirkse hit a three at the buzzer, but with a four point deficit, it was kind of anti-climatic.

Timothy was led in scoring by All Tournament selection, Cassidy Block. She poured in 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Tessa Bosman had another double double on the night with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jessica Dirkse knocked down three three's, to finish with 9 points and Stephanie Kuiper had 5 points while Shelly Ditchfield contributed 3 points.

The tournament saw a lot of good things for the Lady Trojans even with a stinging defeat in the finals. The overall good team play was encouraging to see and the ability to raise their level of play is something to build on going forward. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Lady Trojans over the Holiday Break. Your support was greatly appreciated.

Immaculate Conception was the victor last night. IC played a good game and Timothy was unable to get anything going offensively. The Lady Trojans will look to learn from last night's game as they prepare for the Bulldogs of Riverside-Brookfield.

Jessica Dirkse found her shooting stroke as she poured in 11 points on the evening. Cassidy Block had 6 points, 8 rebounds and Shelly Ditchfield, Stephanie Kuiper and Tessa Bosman each contributed 2 points.

TC downs Ridgewood

A long week it was. Playing their third game in five days, the Lady Trojans were understandably a bit tired and unfocused. With ball security not at a high premium, the game took on a very slow pace and lacked any significant rhythm to it. Somehow, the Lady Trojans led 11-2 after the first quarter. The second quarter did not spark of any offense as each team scored 3 and 9, which gave Timothy a slim lead at the half, 14-11.

The third quarter started off a little slow, but Timothy was able to get some flow going late in the quarter. That momentum lead to an offensive explosion in the 4th quarter with Timothy dropping in 17 points while Ridgewood contributed 12. The final score ended up being 42-30.

Tessa Bosman led the way for the Lady Trojans with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. Cassidy Block had 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals. Kelli LeGrand and Stephanie Kuiper each chipped in 5 points while Amber Scheidt (3 reb, 2 steals) provided a key three for the team in the 4th quarter. Shelly Ditchfield, 2 points, 2 rebounds and Jessica Dirkse 2 points, 3 rebounds rounded out the scoring for Timothy.

The Lady Trojans move to 7-1, 4-0 conference. Timothy plays next on Tuesday vs. Immaculate Conception. The Lady Trojans will travel to IC for the game.

Timothy Finds A Way

The Lady Trojans traveled to South Holland last night to battle long time rival Illiana Christian. This game has plenty of drama from start to finish. Timothy came out red hot and created a lead of 12-4. Illiana would bounce back and actually take a 1 point lead. As the Lady Trojans went cold from the outside, they were able to muster up enough points to take a 1 point lead at the half, 17-16.

The third quarter saw Illiana jump to a 29-24 lead, but thankfully the Lady Trojans responded and close the gap to one. After a basket and a free throw, the score was tied at 31 all. Timothy would take control of the game and sprint ahead to a 37-31 lead. However, as it was stated above, the game had plenty of drama. Illiana would make a run and wound up tieing the game at 37. Some clutch free throws down the stretch preserved the win for the Lady Trojans as the final ended up being 41-37.

Cassidy Block led all scores with 17 points, and pulled down 8 rebounds. Tessa Bosman and Stephanie Kuiper continued to help the Trojans in the middle scoring 7 and 6 individually. Shelly Ditchfield and Kelli LeGrand had 4 and 3 steals with Jasmine Stein taking away 2 steals as well.

Timothy is home tomorrow as they play another conference opponent in Ridgewood. The game time is set for 2:00pm. Please come out and support the Lady Trojans as they continue conference play.

Lady Trojans roll by Westmont

The good team play continued this evening as the Lady Trojans traveled to Westmont to take on the Lady Sentinels. Timothy jumped out to a 12-5 lead after one and continued to increase that lead in the second quarter. Timothy was up 26-9 at the half, thanks in large part to some great defense and some terrific ball movement.

The second half pretty much saw more of the same as Timothy continued to move the ball well against the zone of Westmont The Lady Trojans outscored Westmont 11-1 in the third quarter and pretty much wrapped up the game. The final score ended up being 46-18 and pushed Timothy's record to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference.

Cassidy Block led the way with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals, but plenty others stepped in to contribute tonight. Tessa Bosman had 7 points, 4 reb, 3 blocks, 2 steals, Amber Scheidt had 6 points, 3 steals, Kelli LeGrand with 5 points, Shelly Ditchfield and Stephanie Kuiper with 4 points, Jasmine Stein had 3 points, 2 steals and Jannette Stremler had 2 points.

Timothy plays again on Thursday, as they travel to Illiana Christian for a conference game.

Timothy defeats Glenbard South

Well, the home opener for the Lady Trojans did not disappoint. Timothy came out revved up to play defending conference champion Glenbard South. Going into the game, the Lady Trojans knew they would have to play well to beat a solid program like GS. With that in mind, Timothy was ready to attack from the get go. After the first quarter ended in a 14-8 lead for the Lady Trojans, it was back to a grind it out game in the second. With turnovers increasing, Glenbard South was able to get back into the game. However, Timothy was able to hold an 11 point cushion at halftime, 26-15. Thanks in large part to playing some great defense in the first half, Timothy was ready to get re-focused for the second half.

Timothy started out great in the 3rd quarter by increasing their lead to 18 at one point. The Lady Raiders would not go away and actually cut the lead to 7 at one point and that is where it stayed after three, 33-26. Defense was the name of the game in the 4th quarter once again, with Timothy holding Glenbard South scoreless for the first 7 minutes. During that span, the team was able to increase their lead and finish the game by making several free throws. The final score ended up 44-32.

Cassidy Block led the Lady Trojans with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and Tessa Bosman chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Stephanie Kuiper continued to provide a spark off the bench with 5 points and some timely rebounds. Jessica Dirkse dropped in two three's for 6 points to finish the scoring. Another great team win for Timothy this evening.

Thank you very much to all the fans for the great support and enthusiasm. Your energy was appreciated. Timothy is off until next Tuesday, in which they travel to Westmont.

Timothy overtakes Fenton

After a long layoff in which the Lady Trojans had not played game since November 19, Timothy took to the road this evening and battled Fenton in the opening of conference play. The long layoff did not hurt the team, as they jumped out to an 11-3 lead after one quarter of play. The second quarter saw Fenton climb their way back into the game and cut the lead to 20-17 at the half.

Timothy was able to regroup at the half and came out to prove they could play better. The third quarter was back in forth with Timothy eventually taking a 31-24 lead into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter was all Timothy! The Lady Trojans did a great job of moving the ball and converting easy baskets to put the game away. The final ended up being 44-29 in favor of the Lady Trojans.

Tessa Bosman led the way tonight with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Cassidy Block chipped in 9 points and 4 rebounds while Stephanie Kuiper continued her strong start to the season with 6 points, 2 rebounds and a huge block. Jessica Dirkse added 5 points to help round out the scoring. Kaylie Pries, Shelly Ditchfield and many others contributed some great defense tonight.

Timothy is off until Friday night, in which they host Glenbard South at 7:00pm. Make plans to come out and support the Lady Trojans in their home opener!

Timothy Wins the Consolation Championshp

Timothy wrapped up tournament play by defeating Wheaton St. Francis this afternoon. Both teams were stuck in a classic dog fight with neither team leading by more than 4 points. The back and forth struggle was marred by plenty of fouls by each team. The teams combined to shoot 57 free throws! That's a lot of Free Throws. Unfortunately for the Lady Trojans, we did not make many of those attempts. But, thanks to some timely baskets and a few made free throws, Timothy pulled out the win 52-50. In winning the game, Timothy took home the Consolation Championship trophy...photos to come hopefully:-)

The Lady Trojans were led by two players with monster games. First off, Tessa Bosman dropped in 16 points and grabbed an astounding amount of rebounds....17 to be exact. Not to be outdone, Cassidy Block also dropped in 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. With the two double double efforts leading the way, Stephanie Kuiper contributed 7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, Jessica Dirkse with 5 points, Kelli LeGrand 2 points, 3 assists and Kaylie Pries with 3 points.

Timothy is off for awhile, with their next game not until Nov. 29 vs. Fenton. The Timothy Christian Girls Basketball Program says thanks to all who came this afternoon and we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Lady Trojans bounce back!

After suffering a season opening loss, the Lady Trojans were eager to get back on the court and show some improvement. They did not disappoint this evening as they rolled to a comfortable win over Indian Creek. After opening the 1st quarter with a blistering score of 17-2, Timothy never let Indian Creek back into the game. Timothy had a very balanced attack on the night, with several girls chipping in points to post the 51-13 win.

The Lady Trojans were led on the night by Cassidy Block. Cassidy posted her first ever triple double on the evening. She had 17 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals. With Cassidy setting the pace, Stephanie Kuiper dropped in 9 points, 2 rebounds, Tessa Bosman with 7 points, 4 rebounds, block and Kelli LeGrand also chipped in 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Not to be outdone, Brittany Scheidt (3 points, 3 assists) Amber Scheidt (2 points) Jessica Dirkse (2 points) and Ciara Hoddenbach (2 points) also helped out.

Timothy plays tomorrow afternoon at 1:30pm for the Consolation Championship. The game will be played at Aurora Christian HS. Hope to see you out there.

Game Tonight at 5:30pm

Due to a desire for Aurora Christian to play at home tonight, our game will be at IMSA once again.

Timothy drops their Season Opener

The Lady Trojans saw their first game action this evening as they traveled to Illinois Math and Science Academy to play in the Hoop Happenings Tournament. Timothy squared off against the Lady Foxes from Yorkville. With it being the first game, sloppy stole the show for most of the evening. Timothy was never really able to establish a rhythm in the game, due to the unfortunate nature of too many turnovers.

Timothy tried to battle through uneven play, but Yorkville capitalized a little too much on the sloppy play. Give credit to the Lady Foxes as they played aggressive and pressured the Lady Trojans all night. The final was 40-23. Timothy was led in scoring by Tessa Bosman with 6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals. Jessica Dirkse chipped in 5 points, 2 rebounds and Cassidy Block had 4 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and a blocked shot. Stephanie Kuiper had 1 points, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks.

The Lady Trojans play again on Friday night at 5:30pm. The game will be played at Aurora Christian High School.

Regional Champs!!!

Well, if ESPN was filming this game last night, I think it would go down as an instant classic. The Lady Trojans and the Lady Knights from Immaculate Conception battled for 4 quarters and then two overtimes. But, first let's talk about how we got to the end. Timothy came out fired up and raced out to an 11-2 lead. However, IC would come right back and eventually tie the game at 11. With a 3 pointer before the end of the first quarter, Timothy led 14-11 after one. The second quarter continued to show a good flow of basketball as each team would trade baskets back and forth. TC would finally hold a 30-25 advantage at the half. IC came out red hot in the 3rd quarter and used a great spurt to take a two point advantage into the 4th, 37-35. IC would eventually extend their lead to 7 points at one time in the quarter, only to see the Lady Trojans come roaring back to tie the game at 43. Timothy would actually take the lead 45-43, but two clutch free throws by IC tied it up. Both teams missed out on opportunities to win it, so off we go to overtime.

Overtime saw the same as the first four quarters, with both teams trying to do whatever it took to win. With the scored tied at 50-50, TC had a chance to win it, but a pass was a little long and Timothy would end up settling for quick shot. On to a second overtime! With neither team giving an inch, every possession became bigger and bigger. Timothy would finally find a way to capture the lead and hold onto it. With hitting some clutch free throws and coming up with a big steal, Timothy would hold on to capture it's 14th Regional Championship for the program.

Tessa Bosman led the way in scoring for the Lady Trojans with 19 points. Cassidy Block had a big game in scoring 16 points and grabbing a game high 13 rebounds. Jordyn Platt contributed 13 points and Kari LeGrand dropped in 8. Jessica Dirkse also hit a very timely 3 pointer for the team.

The team now advances to the Sectional Semi-Finals on Tuesday night vs. Walther Lutheran. The game will be played at Westminster Christian (Elgin) at 7:30pm. Timothy also had two shooters, Kari LeGrand and Jordyn Platt, advance in the 3 point competition. They will shoot before the game on Tuesday, roughly around 6:45pm.

Lady Trojans Advance

The Lady Trojans used a fast start to help lead the way to a comfortable win. In leading 22-4 after one quarter of play, the tone was pretty much set that TC was going to advance in the state playoffs. Give credit to Collins Academy for playing a tough game and creating some good scoring opportunities. The final score for the night was 52-34. Kari LeGrand led the way with 14 points and Cassidy Block chipped in 12 points. Tessa Bosman also dropped in 9 points. Anna Wondergem also played a good spirited game with 4 points and 5 rebounds. Several other girls which included Jordyn Platt, Shelly Ditchfield, Jessica Dirkse and Stephanie Kuiper all found the scoring column as well.

TC now advances to the Regional Championship game which will be held tomorrow night at 7:30pm. The game will be played at Timothy so make plans to come out and cheer these girls on. It should be a great night of basketball.

On a side note, congrats to Jordyn Platt, Kari LeGrand and Jessica Dirkse for advancing in the 3pt competition. All three girls will shoot tomorrow before the game at approximately 6:50pm.

TC defeats Illiana

Timothy bounced back in grand fashion after a previous loss to Riverside-Brookfield tonight by beating Illiana Christian 59-45. The Lady Trojans came out hot from the start, mainly from the 3pt land which lead to some great baskets inside the arc as well. Timothy was able to take a seven point lead into the half, 23-16. One might have thought that this was going to be a defensive grind in the second half, but both teams came out firing from all angles. TC scored on it's first five possessions of the 2nd half which allowed them to build an 18 point lead. However, Illiana responded with their own run and cut the lead down to 9. Timothy would wind up moving the ball and making the extra pass when needed to convert on some easy baskets and finishes around the hole. A good team win this evening!

There were many contributors on the night, starting with Cassidy Block (17 points, 7 rebounds) Kari LeGrand (15 points, 3 rebounds) Tessa Bosman (10 points, 6 rebounds) Jordyn Platt (8 points, 4 steals, 3 assists) Jessica Dirkse (4 points,2 rebounds) Shelly Ditchfield (2 points, 2 assists) Stephanie Kuiper (2 points, 2 rebounds). Nice job on the win Ladies!

We would also like to thank our honorary team manager for the evening, Abby VanderWal, for doing such a great job. Whether that was cheering the girls on, eating your skittles on the bench or breaking down the team huddle at the end, you did an outstanding job. Thanks Abby!

R-B downs Timothy

After having a couple of snow days, the Lady Trojans were back in action for the first time in a week. With some rust that was clearly evident, the Bulldogs from R-B got off to a fast start, leading 14-7 after one quarter of play. TC would make a nice turnaround in the second quarter narrowing the gap to one at the half, 22-21. The third quarter so a lot of back and forth play with R-B once again holding the edge 33-30 after three quarters of play. Timothy would take a one point lead in the 4th quarter, but R-B responded with a quick basket of their own and made their free throws down the stretch. Final score ended up being 50-42.

Cassdiy Block led the Lady Trojans with 14 points, 10 rebounds, Kari LeGrand (11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals) Tessa Bosman (4 points, 10 rebounds) Anna Wondergem (4 points, 2 rebounds) Stephanie Kuiper (4 points, 2 blocks) Jordyn Platt (3 points, 3 rebounds) all chipped in as well.

TC now travels to Illiana Christian on Saturday night to square off against the Lady Vikings. Game time is set for 6:30pm.

Senior Night....Tonight!

Just another reminder, that Senior Night will happen tonight before the boys varsity game. All seniors and parents need to be there by 7:00pm. Looking forward to a great night!

Update on Senior Night....

We have been looking at several scenarios concerning the honoring of our Seniors and the best scenario at the moment is to honor them this Friday at the boy's game. The plan is to have all the Seniors recognized before the start of the Varsity Boy's game. Each player will be talked about and then be joined by their parent(s). Also, the handing out of Senior gifts and celebrating in general will take place after the boy's game in a designated room. More details to come, but wanted to get the word out about this real possibility.

Snow, Snow and More Snow!

Word is spreading quite quickly, but we do not have school tomorrow for a second straight day. With us not having school does not mean that our game is cancelled for tomorrow evening. Please stay tuned for information concerning our game for tomorrow night. Hope everyone is enjoying some down time and extra rest.

Tonight's Game, Festivites have been Cancelled

Due to the projection of snow and sever weather coming our way, all festivities for tonight have been cancelled. Obviously, with this being Senior Night, it is a big disappointment that things will not be able to go as scheduled. We are working on figuring out another night to honor our Seniors so please stay tuned for that. For now, the game itself has been re-scheduled for Monday, February 7 at Glenbard South. The reason the game is being played at Glenbard South is because we are hosting Regionals at our place on that night. Due to a lack of flexibility in our schedule we are somewhat locked into this scenario. Once again, stay tuned as things may change.

I do appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter as we look into figuring everything out.

Lady Trojans defeat Elmwood Park

After taking a trip to Holland, MI where there was plenty of fun, not the result however, the Lady Trojans defeated Elmwood Park last night by the score of 46-28. Timothy was looking to rebound from consecutive losses where playing good basketball was not very evident. With a renewed focus, last night's game was just what the doctor ordered...a complete game. With a stifling defense which created numerous turnovers, the Lady Trojans were able to convert those into easy points and hold a comfortable lead throughout the contest. With Tessa Bosman leading the way with 15 points and 6 steals, the rest of the line-up chipped in a variety of ways. Cassidy Block had 13 points, 6 rebounds, Jessica Dirkse 7 points, Jordyn Platt 3 steals, Kari LeGrand 6 assists, Anna Wondergem 4 points and Stephanie Kuiper with 7 rebounds. It was good win for the team as they look forward to their next game vs. Walther.

Thursday's game will be played at Walther with a 7:30pm start time.

Not To Be......

The Lady Trojans hosted Fenton last night in the second of two meetings between the teams. The inability to score and turnovers were the theme on this night. With Fenton harassing the Lady Trojans with their half court zone defenses, ball security was at a high premium. However, that ball security was not present and TC would succumb to the Bison from Fenton 37-28. It was a frustrating night in many ways and the team looks forward to learning and bouncing back from this game. Timothy now travels to Holland, MI to take on a very good Holland Christian team. Directions will be giving out later.

Overtime Win!

The Lady Trojans were involved in their first overtime game of the season on Saturday afternoon. The visiting Tigers from Elmwood Park played hard and made for quite an interesting game. The Lady Trojans took a six point lead into the half, only to see themselves go cold from the field in the 3rd quarter. With only scoring four points, Elmwood Park crept back into the game and that momentum carried over into the 4th. With the game going back and forth with both teams making a basket or free throw here and there, it provided some tense drama. TC was unable to get anything going on the offensive end with about 10 seconds to go, which resulted in EP getting the ball back with 4.8 seconds left. Some good defensive pressure by the Lady Trojans created a turnover with 2 seconds left. However, TC was not able to get a good look and the game headed into overtime. Timothy played some great defense and rebounded the ball well in the overtime period and that provided a spark for the offense. With Jordyn Platt hitting some free throws and a lay-up the team was able to exhale a little. The girls found a way to muster up enough energy in the overtime period to get the win 48-39. Good job ladies and way to pull it out. Timothy was led in scoring by Renata Harris and Tessa Bosman with 10 points apiece. Renata did a great job in stepping up for the team and her efforts paid off. Bosman also grabbed a team high in rebounds with 8. Other stats on the day included: Jordyn Platt (9 points, 3 rebounds) Kari LeGrand (7 points, 4 assists) Jessica Dirkse (6 points, 2 rebounds) Shelly Ditchfield (2 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) and Anna Wondergem and Stephanie Kuiper chipping in 2 points apiece.

The Lady Trojans will be back in action this coming Thursday (1/20) vs. Fenton High School. It is yet another home game, so come out and keep cheering for these hard working girls. They have displayed a great attitude and a willingness to get better. Hope to see you out there!

Whirlyball!

With exams taking center stage this week, the coaching staff decided to take the team to something that was a little less stressful.....Whirlyball! With this being the first time for many of the girls, it was great to see the excitment and fun that was displayed. With numerous crashes into the railings and into each other, the team had a wonderful time playing and laughing all the same. One highlight which almost turned into a lowlight was Cassidy's car catching fire! We all know when a player gets hot, they are on fire, but we didn't know it would happen so literally! Thankfully, no harm was done and the car was replaced. Here are some pics from the afternoon:

Timothy takes down Luther North

Sorry for the delay in the post game recap of our game on Monday, but I think exams have everyone a little out of whack. We hosted Luther North this past Monday and once again the girls came out focused and charged up. In not knowing too much about our opponent the girls were ready to get the game started. TC was able to race out to a 15-7 led after the first quarter. The Lady Trojans would continue to build on their lead going into the half with a 27-15 advantage. The Wildcats from Luther North would not go away by creeping back into the game and cutting the lead to single digits. Timothy would respond and eventually take home the contest with a 56-38 victory. TC was led in scoring and in rebounding by Stephanie Kuiper with 11 and 10 respectively. Anna Wondergem also cashed in (9 points, 5 rebounds) and Tessa Bosman had (8 points, 7 rebounds) Jordyn Platt (8 points, 5 assists) Shelly Ditchfield (4 points, 4 assists, 3 steals) Renata Harris (2 points, 4 rebounds). This week has been a long week for the Lady Trojans with academics at the forefront of their minds. We continue to pray for the girls as they strive to do their best in the classroom.

The Lady Trojans play again on Saturday at home vs. Elmwood Park. The game time is set for 2:00pm. Keep coming out and supporting these wonderful girls!

TC gets the Win

The Lady Trojans continue to play good basketball and Saturday afternoon was another good demonstration of that. In playing Ridgewood for the second time, TC came out focused from the start. After one quarter of play, the score was 21-8 in favor of the Lady Trojans. Timothy would continue to build on it's lead and take a comfortable 35-19 lead into the half. The second half struggled to get a flow, mainly due to all the fouls that were called, but TC would almost build it's lead to 30. After all the free throws were taken, the final score ended up being 61-38. The game proved to be a showcase in how well balanced the team is. Everybody would contribute on the day with Cassidy Block and Tessa Bosman leading the way with 13 and 12 points respectively. Both girls grabbed a team leading 10 rebounds as well. Jordyn Platt (7 points) Kari LeGrand (4 points) Anna Wondergem (4 points) Shelly Ditchfield (6 points) Renata Harris (5 points) Jessica Dirkse (6 points) Amber Scheidt (2 points) and Stephanie Kuiper (2 points) all chipped in on the action. Great job ladies. The Lady Trojans now move to 5-1 in conference and 11-5 overall.

Timothy plays again on Monday night at 7:00pm vs. Luther North. The game will be at home. Hope to see you out there.

Timothy Hangs On!

The Lady Trojans traveled to Lisle High School last night to play against a good Lisle team. With it being the first game after the break, sometimes you are not quite sure what you are going to get from the team. However, TC came out with great energy and excitement and that proved to a constant throughout the game. After the first quarter, TC held a slight 10-7 lead. Timothy would build on that lead by taking a nine point advantage into the half 22-13. With good ball movement and everyone contributing the team looked to build on that in the second half. In the third TC would continue to build it's lead with a nice buzzer beating three pointer by Jordyn Platt to build the lead up to 14, 33-19. The fourth quarter started out pretty good with Timothy taking a 16 point lead at one point. The Lions from Lisle would not go silently. With a determination to pressure and force turnovers, Lisle creeped it's way back into the game and before you knew it, the lead was down to two. Some well-timed free throws from Kari LeGrand gave a little breathing room, but Lisle kept going. Thankfully, the time ran out and Timothy survived with the two point win, 43-41.

The Lady Trojans played hard and were very focused from the start. A lot of credit goes to the team for making contributions in several different ways. Whether it was a nice pass, a great shot or just getting that extra rebound, it was great too see an all around effort. Jordyn Platt led the way with 14 points, 9 rebounds and the balance scoring from there paid off with Cassdiy Block (8 points, 5 rebounds) Tessa Bosman (6 points, 3 blocks) Kari LeGrand (6 points, 3 assists) Stephanie Kuiper (5 points, 5 rebounds and Shelly Ditchfield and Anna Wondergem (6 rebounds) with 2 points apiece. Great job ladies!

Timothy plays again on Saturday at 2:00 vs. Ridgewood. It's a home game so make plans to come out and cheer these girls on!

The Future!!

This past November and December the Lady Trojans were involved in giving back to the younger community of Timothy Christian Schools. For five weeks on Saturday mornings the Varsity Girls and Coaching staff instructed and coached girls from grade levels 4-8. It was a wonderful experience and a fun filled time enjoyed by all. Thanks to the parents, the younger and older girls, the coaching staff and the time you sacrificed to make this a great experience. Here are some pics!! (click on picture to enlarge it)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

Lisle Tourney Recap

The Lady Trojans competed in the Lisle Tournament over the Christmas break once again. With a few new teams joining the tournament this year, it has become quite the 16 team field of extremely good schools. With playing four games in four days, every school is challenged to get up and compete each day. As the previous blog post indicated the Lady Trojans got off to a great start in beating Wheaton Academy 40-27.

The next day pitted TC against Walther and another good test to see where the Lady Trojans stood. Walther turned out to be a little too much to handle as they jumped out to a 14-3 first quarter lead. The team would respond with playing Walther pretty straight up the next two quarters, but eventually saw Walther pull away in the end and winning 45-31.

On the third day of the tourney, TC faced off against a very good St. Edward's team. Much like the Walther game, St. Ed's came out very focused to push the pace and press upon the Lady Trojans that this was going to be a physical game. TC battled the Green Wave in the first half, only trailing by three at the half. However, the second half was not a very good showing on behalf of the Lady Trojans. With a lot of standing on offense, St. Ed's pulled away and won comfortably 44-25.

Finally, the last day was upon us. Timothy squared off against another familiar foe, Latin, on the final day. With a first quarter burst, 21 points in all, the Lady Trojans were off to the races. Latin made a very frustrating comeback in the second quarter which led the Lady Trojans to regroup at halftime. The third quarter saw almost an identical burst of points as the first quarter did, 20 to be exact. As you can assume, it was a game where points were coming in bunches. TC finished the tournament the way it started it, with a win. TC beat Latin 63-48.

Overall, it was a good tournament for the Lady Trojans to continue to learn and be tested at the same time. The tourney had some great highlights throughout for TC where several players played important roles. We would like to extend a congratulations to Cassidy Block for making the All-Tournament Team. Cassidy capped her tournament play with a 27 point performance against Latin. Once again, congrats Cassidy for this accomplishment and representing Timothy Christian.
