Free Throws for Hero's Total Earnings!
Dear Coach Dekoekkoek,
In honor of Memorial Day, I thought this would be the ideal occasion to share some truly inspiring news with you:
On behalf of the IBCA, IHSA, IADA and Suburban Basketball Officials, I would like to again express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to you, your fellow coaches, fellow teams, players, parents, fans and communities for helping us raise a phenomenal $82,170 for our Illinois military troops and their families through our Free Throws For Heroes® event...a total even more incredible considering only 96 Illinois high schools were able to participate this past year due to limited lead times.
Considering this was our first year and recognizing that lead time was very short, it is a great reflection on you, Timothy Christian High School and the entire Illinois basketball community for achieving such phenomenal results. We should all take great pride and satisfaction in knowing that we all stepped up to the line to “Make Free Throws That WILL Make A Difference To Our Illinois Military Families In Need.”
We will now work with the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs to distribute the funds to pre-qualified and pre-approved Illinois Military Troops and/or their families in and around the communities where these great events took place.
Again, on behalf of these brave families, thank you for your exemplary work and please share our gratitude with your fellow coaches, players and entire Timothy Christian high school community.
We look forward to partnering with you next season to be even bigger “Heroes To Our Brave Illinois Military Heroes.”
Sincerely,
Mitch Salzstein
