Summer Recap 2010

Hi Everyone,

It was hard to officially say bye to all of you at once because of everything you have going on in your lives, but I wanted to take some time and reflect on this summer of basketball. First, I would like to thank everyone for coming to whatever you could make and committing to getting better. Second, thanks for making the sacrifices financially and time wise to be a part of what we do in the summer. Finally, thanks for being such a great group to work with.

Here is a summary of where I feel we stand as of now:

We have a team full of people who want to get better and to learn more about basketball. This was evident by the turnout of girls we had and the willingness of everyone to listen to what the coaches were teaching. We saw some good improvement in attacking the basket and our passing showed some very good signs as well. Also, overall we saw a good display of ball pressure from many of you.

Moving forward, there are things we need to work on as well. We need to become a better rebounding team, help defense in stopping the ball, shooting (confidence to shoot) and increasing our ball handling skills. Finally, we need to understand to apply a work ethic to play hard and be strong when we are on the court.

Here are some thoughts from Coach Baumbach:

I am thankful for everyone who participated in camps, summer league, shootouts, or Hope Camp.
I am hopefull that all players have this thought: what do I need to work on to become a better basketball player. With this thought in mind I think of what the Concordia coach told you. When you work out, break a sweat! Try and practice at game speed! The Hope coach said that Everyone needs to get better at ball handling ! Those are good starting points to improvement. My last thought, come into the basketball season in shape.
I am really looking forward to the upcoming season.

As I right this email, we roughly have 3.5 months before our season starts at the beginning of November. I really look forward to tryouts and working with the team to become better in all facets of the game. I am quite positive that this year's upcoming team can do very well and your desire to win will control that destiny. I hope you can find time to relax and enjoy the rest of your summer and more importantly, to find time to be with God.

Blessings to you all,

Coach DeKoekkoek

Hope Camp 2010

The mini-bus will be leaving at 1:00 on Sunday, so please plan on being at Timothy's front doors around 12:45 to pack up. I am looking forward to a great three days of basketball and hanging out.

A reminder that there is practice tomorrow from 8:30-10:00am. The practice will be led by Coach Baumbach.
