Consolation Champs!! Timothy beats Antioch

Congratulations to the Lady Trojans for their consolation championship win this evening. The Lady Trojans defeated Antioch 57-49 behind a well balanced attack. Katie Dirkse led all scorers with 18 points, followed by teammates Shannon McNeil (10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks) Anneke Stremler(10 points, 10 rebounds,3 steals and a block). Also contributing on the night was Meghan Leach with 9 points and 5 rebounds, Kari LeGrand with 8 points and 7 rebounds and Kelsey Kaczynski chipping in 2 points and some good minutes played. Some good overall play, making their free throws and making the clutch shot allowed Timothy to lead the entire game. Timothy raced out to an early 11 point lead after one quarter and held a 9 point advantage at halftime. Antioch battled back and cut the lead to 2 points at the end of the 3rd quarter. However, the Lady Trojans stepped up and finished the final quarter by displaying some great mental toughness and seizing control of the game. A good win for the ladies. The Lady Trojans finished the tournament with a 3-1 record and their only loss came to eventual champion Newark. A good tournament to say the least!
On a side note, Meghan Leach earned all-tournament honors for her consistent play throughout the tournament...congratulations Meghan!
"most valuable baller" on the evening goes to Katie Dirkse. Make sure you get the ball from Meghan:-) Sorry about that:-(

Go Timothy!!

After having an early lead cut to three at halftime, the Lady Trojans came out strong in the second half. With a final push midway through the 4th quarter, the ladies were able to put away Mt. Assisi. As stated above, it was a complete team effort this evening. Meghan Leach scored a career high with 20 points, Shannon McNeil contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds and Kari LeGrand chipped in 11 points 5 rebounds. Timothy tames the Lions of Lisle

The Lady Trojans defeated Lisle this afternoon by a score of 37-25. After playing to a tie in the 1st half, the defense picked up the energy and held Lisle to 6 second half points. The ladies responded well with some nice ball movement, hitting the outside shot and working together in the second half. Shannon McNeil led Timothy with 13 points, Meghan Leach had 9 and Anneke Stremler finished with 5. Amanda Dykema contributed 9 rebounds, some great defensive pressure and all around hustle throughout the game. The ladies play again on Monday (the 29th) at 8:00pm vs Mt. Assisi. Lady Trojans lose in the 1st round

Timothy lost to Newark by the score of 39-29 this evening. After not playing a game for the past 13 days, the Lady Trojans were not game sharp. With rust clearly evident, the Lady Trojans took the first half off and Newark seized control of the game. However, the ladies battled back and played with a much better intensity in the second half. It was not to be tonight, as the first half did the Lady Trojans in. Katie Dirkse led the Lady Trojans with 8 points. Timothy plays against Lisle tomorrow afternoon at 3:30pm. Come on out and support the Lady Trojans as they look to rebound with a better effort.
"most valuable baller" goes to Katie Dirkse...congrats Katie!

January Practice Schedule
I have updated the practice schedule for the month of January. Please be aware that practice on January 7 is incorrect. We will be practicing from 4:25-5:40pm instead of the time listed. Thanks for your patience.
Christmas Party!
The plan is set for a Christmas Party at my place on Monday, the 29th of December. We do not know the exact time due to our game that day, but we hope to have it later that night. If it does not work out for that evening, we will postpone the party until a later date.
Laura and I will provide some treats for you all, but we will have to coordinate drinks and possible games to be brought. Also, everyone must bring a gift (white elephant) to be put in the middle for someone to grab.
We are still planning on going to the roller skating rink before our gift exchange and game time. It should be a great time!

Timothy Defeats Luther North 54-24

The Lady Trojans started out fast, had a little nap in between and then finished strong. A good win for the girls as they continue to find an offensive flow to their game. The win puts Timothy at 2-0 in the PSL and 6-3 overall. Today's game was a refreshing way to end a very long week for the girls. The Lady Trojans had many contributors on the day starting with Anneke Stremler with 14pts, 4 rebounds, Meghan Leach with 10pts, 4 rebounds, Shannon McNeil with 8pts and Kari LeGrand with 6pts, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Liz Powers also contributed 5 points on the day with a 3 pointer and a couple of free throws. The girls look forward to their upcoming PSL clash with Illiana on Tuesday and then finishing off the week with a game at Lisle. Thanks again for all the support from the parents, students and fans alike. Go Timothy!
"most valuable baller" goes to Kari LeGrand.

Timothy Wins a Close One 34-32

Finally, the Lady Trojans are on the other side of a close game. Timothy defeats Latin 34-32 in another hard fought game. The Lady Trojans pulled it out in the end with two clutch free throws from Kari LeGrand. Timothy also received good play from a variety of girls including Anneke Stremler with 11 points, Shannon McNeil with 8 points and 12 rebounds, Meghan Leach with 6 points and good all around play from Lauren Couture. The Lady Trojans are still finding their way in the early part of this season, but with tough games comes the ability to grow and learn.

Timothy Defeats Chicago Christian 31-27

Well, the first PSL game of the season started off in grand fashion. A tight game throughout, the Lady Trojans persevered in the second half to pull out the 4 point victory. The Lady Trojans held the Knights to 11 points in the second half and kept them scoreless for over 6 minutes. Needless to say, the defense was the deciding factor in this game. Shannon McNeil led Timothy with 7 points and Kari LeGrand and Anneke Stremler each had 6. A big lay-up by Kari LeGrand late in the game sealed the win for the Lady Trojans. A fun night it was, especially with the boys winning their game as well. Thanks to all the fans who made the trip out to the game.
"most valuable baller" goes to the whole team on behalf of the defense!

A Tough Loss this Evening

A frustrating loss for the Lady Trojans this evening. Timothy loses 53-52 to Nazareth. The Lady Trojans played with some great energy and effort, but the execution is what hurt them tonight. Both defensively and offensively, the Lady Trojans missed some key opportunities to get the win. Timothy raced out to early 12 point lead, however foul trouble and the pace of the game slowed down, allowing Nazareth to work there way back into the game. At the half it was a 1 point game in favor of the Lady Trojans and that continued to be the story in second half….a close game. Give credit to Nazareth for hitting some big shots and some big free throws in the 4th quarter. Anneke Stremler led the Lady Trojans with 18 points and 4 rebounds, followed by fellow senior Meghan Leach with 12 points and 3 rebounds. It was a game that the Lady Trojans will learn from and make them tougher in the future.
"most valuable baller" on the evening goes to Anneke Stremler!

Timothy Defeats Holy Trinity 53-31

The Lady Trojans came out a little flat this evening, but not because of energy or effort. The girls were just unable to execute in making the simple pass, the simple lay-up or the wide open shot. Thankfully there are two halves in basketball and the Lady Trojans played better extended the lead at one point to 26 points. The Lady Trojans were led in scoring by senior, Anneke Stremler with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Meghan Leach and Shannon McNeil contributed 11 and 10 respectively. The girls are off until next week Wednesday when they play Nazareth at home.
"Most Valuable Baller" on the evening goes to Anneke Stremler. Congrats to Anneke!

Timothy falls short in Championship Game 51-33

The Bulldogs from Batavia were just a little too much too handle for the Lady Trojans this afternoon. The Lady Trojans battled for the majority of the game, but was just unable to sustain the effort needed to overcome a talented Batavia team. Shannon McNeil led the Lady Trojans with 12 points, 13 rebounds and sophomore, Kari LeGrand, contributed 9 points. The ladies will be back in action this coming Tuesday, the 25th of November vs. Holy Trinity. It will be Timothy’s first home game, so make plans to come on out and support the girls!
The "most valuable baller" of the game went to Shannon McNeil. Good work Shannon.

Timothy Shuts down IMSA 58-23

The Lady Trojans came out with a strong performance early and late. The Lady Trojans had a well balanced attack on the offensive end, led by Senior Meghan Leach with 16 points. Also contributing on the night was Anneke Stremler with 10 points and Shannon McNeil with 11. McNeil also had 6 rebounds and 6 assists on the night. A good overall team win this evening and improvements are being made. The Lady Trojans will be back at again tomorrow afternoon for the championship game vs. the winner of Reed-Custer/Batavia.

A Quick Note
Tomorrow after practice, we will watch a little bit of our game vs. Elmwood Park. The goal is to be done by 5:00!!!
Opening Night Win!

Well, the season started off on a good note for the Lady Trojans. It was definitely the first game of the season for the Lady Trojans, with missed lay-ups, some extra nerves and just the inability to hit the open shot. All in all, it was a good stepping stone for the Lady Trojans to build off of. The game was highlighted by the individual play of Shannon McNeil. Shannon finished with 12 points, 17 rebounds and 3 steals. Also, sophomore, Lauren Couture stepped up with 8 points and good overall team passing sealed the win late for the Lady Trojans. The team plays next on this coming Friday at 5:30pm vs. the winner of IMSA and Earlville.
Lauren Couture also earned the first "MVB" Most Valuable Baller of the game. Congrats to Lauren or should I say "LC" Her picture is above.

Recap from Hope Camp
Both the JV and Varsity Girls Basketball teams competed in the annual Hope Team Camp in Holland, MI. Both teams played some great basketball and left the camp very pleased with the overall development of the team. The girls were able to spend some time relaxing at Captain Sundae's, riding some go-karts and eating pizza at night. The Varsity girls came away the champions for the team banner this year with their theme being the "Ballin Barbies" Great job ladies on winning the team banner. Thanks again for a great camp!
