Well, this past weekend turned into a state champion defining weekend. Senior, Brittany Scheidt advanced down state in the 3pt competition after advancing from her sectional top four finish. Brittany competed Thursday afternoon at Illinois State University in Bloomington, IL. Brittany made a total of 8 out of 15 and then she had to wait. With being in the first flight of eight shooters, she had to wait for three more flights (24 more shooters). It was a nerve racking experience to say the least. She was in the top four all the way through until it came down to the last four shooters of the day. Two of those four shooters ended up making 8 as well, which resulted in a shoot off for the final two spots.
Brittany was up first and she made 3 out of 10. Not a bad number, but it contributed to the nervous excitement a little more. The next shooter made 5 out of 10, so that girl was in. It came down to one girl left. The last girl ended up making 2 out of 10, which meant Brittany made it to the final four!! To say that teammates, coaches and family were excited would be understatement.
Next came the shootout for the 3A crown. Brittany drew number 1, which meant she was up first. Brittany proceeded to make 8 out of 15 and the score to beat was set. The next two shooters made 6 and 5 respectively, so Brittany was in first with one more shooter to go. Out of the whole weekend, this was the most dramatic filled 45 seconds of the event. The last shooter made 1 on the first rack (out of 5) and then made the next five in a row! Uh oh, Brittany's number was in severe danger. However, the girl ended up making only 1 of the last 5 balls to finish with 7. After a brief sigh of relief, the celebration was on! Brittany Schedit was now the 3A 3pt. State Champion!!!!! What an amazing run for her.....so proud of Brittany.
In winning the 3A crown, this allowed Brittany to compete in the Queen of the Hill Competition against the other class winners: 1A, 2A and 4A. A pretty cool opportunity for the chance to be the best 3pt shooter in the state of Illinois. It was not to be. Brittany made 4 out of 15 while the winner made 8. Regardless of the result, Brittany had achieved something that nobody in our school had ever done before...be a 3pt State Champion. Congrats Brittany for making history and representing Timothy Christian so well! #WEARETC
On a side note, Brittany shot a bonus green and white ball on Saturday after her round and she made it. What is the "bonus" all about you might ask? Well, in making the shot, Brittany earned Timothy some cash. Country Financial, the sponsor of the event, will be sending a check to Timothy on behalf of Brittany......pretty cool!
Be sure to check out Timothy's Facebook page as there are several pictures of Brittany from this past weekend. Also, the Daily Herald had a nice little write-up on Brittany in Saturday's morning paper.

Congrats to Kaylie
The post season honors keep coming in and this one has much to do about the classroom as much as it does the court. Kaylie Pries was recognized as an Honorable Mention for the IHSA All-Academic Team. Kaylie has been a great leader for us this past year on the court and we are glad to see her get recognized for her work in the classroom as well! Great job Kaylie!

Way to go Brittany!
Brittany Scheidt converted 8 of her 15 3pt attempts last night and that was good enough to advance downstate. Brittany will be shooting next Thursday at 4:30pm at Illinois State University. Awesome job Brittany.

All Conference
Congrats to Kelli LeGrand, Stephanie Kuiper and Sara Hodges for being selected to the Metro Suburban Conference All Conference Team. We are blessed to have all three of you on our team!
Not to be.....
The Lady Trojans season came to an end this past Thursday at the hands of conference foe, Glenbard South. The final score ended up being 43-27, but Timothy did not go lightly. For the majority of the game, GS held a 6-8 point lead with Timothy finally cutting the deficit to 3 in the 4th quarter. However, as was much the case all night, TC could not get a bucket to fall. Glenbard South would finish the game on a 13-0 run (mainly free throws) as the Lady Trojans saw their season slip away.
It was a disappointing game in the fact that the entire team wish we could have shot better, but the fight was tremendous from every individual. The coaching staff is very proud of the team for never giving in and competing to the very end. It's always difficult to wrap up a season after a hard loss and this year was no different.
The team graduates five influential Seniors that will be missed. We thank them for their commitment to the program and their own desire to be winners in this competitive world. That will be a lasting trait that all of us will admire. More importantly, the Lord has great things in store for these girls. With their caring hearts, tender kindness and the willingness to love others, God takes great delight in knowing that His children are serving him in such a positive way. Thank you Seniors.
The coaches would also like to thank the rest of the team for their time, energy and discipline to get through another long season. We are extremely thankful to you all for making such a difference in our lives. Our hope is that you continue to grow in the Lord and may that be a driving force in your years to come.
The team finished 15-12 overall, 9-3 in conference (3rd place finish) and were awarded three All-Conference players: Kelli LeGrand, Stephanie Kuiper and Sara Hodges. Thank you ladies for a wonderful season!

Timothy Advances
Timothy traveled into the city and took part in the Prosser Regional Semi-Final Game against St. Francis. These two teams met a week earlier at St. Francis which resulted in a St. Francis win. Timothy knew what they were getting into and they also knew that they would have to play better to beat a good St. Francis team.
The first quarter was a good start for the Lady Trojans as they took an early 12-6 lead after one quarter of play. The second quarter saw the lead grow to an 18-8 advantage, but St. Francis closed the half on a 6-0 run to make it 18-14 in Timothy's favor at the half.
The third quarter saw the offenses of both teams play a lot better. TC scored a total of 12 points and St. Francis scored 14 to make the game even closer heading into the fourth quarter. With that two point lead, it didn't last long as St. Francis ending up taking a 32-31 lead. The fourth quarter was a back and forth affair as neither team held much more of a two point lead. TC would take a four point lead only to see St. Francis come right back and tie it.
The game boiled down to Timothy making some clutch free throws and withstanding a few missed shots to win the game 45-44.
Sara Hodges led the way with 16 points and Stephanie Kuiper had 10. Brittany Schedit had 6 points while Alexis Hoogendoorn chipped in 5. Kelli LeGrand had 4pts while Kaylie Pries and Kaitlin Gehrke each had 2pts.
Timothy will now play on Thursday night vs. MSC rival Glenbard South for the Regional Championship. The game time is set for 7:30pm. Hope to see you out there cheering the team on!
Go TC!!
